Medical staff strategy is a cornerstone of Barnabas Health's complete enterprise strategy, which integrates medical staff planning, community health needs assessment, and service line strategy to optimize cost-effectiveness. With affiliates that range from community hospitals to academic institutions, Barnabas Health needs to incorporate each organization’s unique medical staff requirements into its overall strategy. The presentation will focus on the techniques the health system uses to develop medical staff strategy, integrate results into enterprise strategy, develop implementation dashboards, and measure outcomes/results.

"Achieve Bottom Line Results with ACA Required Needs Assessment Strategies"

The ACA requirement for all hospitals to conduct a Comprehensive Needs Assessment  provides an opportunity for health care planners/marketers.  Effectively using market research, facilitation and strategic planning skills can result in the development of actionable strategies to improve community health.   Raritan Bay Medical Center, with two diverse campuses, used their CHNA to cost effectively:

  1. Develop high quality services,
  2. Expand the medical staff,
  3. Enhance community collaborations,
  4. Improve hospital image.
